There are 18 species (3 subspecies) of eels inhabiting the world, but they belong to the order Eel (Anguilliformes) and the family Eel (Anguillidae) among fish, and 2 species inhabit Japan, Nihon Unagi (Anguilla japonica)., There is Giant mottled eel (Anguilla marmorata).
We only offer the best tasting Nihon Unagi, but please be aware that some shops sell different types of eels (European eels).
